Pakistan: Afghan troops allegedly kill 2 tribesmen
Monday, 07.02.2012, 05:25pm (GMT)

Pakistani officials have accused Afghan soldiers of crossing into the country and killing two local tribesmen.

Government and intelligence officials say at least 30 Afghan soldiers chasing Taliban militants crossed into the Upper Kurram region in northwestern Pakistan on Monday. They traded gunfire with the militants in the border village of Muqbal, and two tribesmen were killed.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

The Afghan Defense Ministry denied the report as "wrong and without basis."

It's unclear exactly how far the Afghan soldiers allegedly ventured into Pakistani territory. The border in the area is not clearly marked.

The countries accuse each other of not doing enough to stop cross-border attacks by Taliban militants.
