Sunday, 03.04.2012, 03:40pm (GMT)

A 22-year-old Afghan woman was murdered allegedly by her fiancee in a south Delhi guest house after she refused to marry him, police said on Sunday.

Paimana Khanjar was stabbed to death allegedly by Umaid in Shamsher Homestay guest house in Jangpura last night, a senior police official said.

Khanjar, who studies in the United States, had come to Delhi on February 21 and was staying with one of her relatives, while Umaid, who is studying in Russia, was staying in the guest house.

"They were engaged. Last night the duo had an argument at the guest house following which she refused to marry him. In a fit of rage, he allegedly stabbed her," the official said. Umaid has been arrested.
