Large Car Bomb Rocks Kabul

Dozens of people have been killed or injured in a car bomb explosion outside the German embassy in Kabul.

said Basir Mujahid a spokesman for Kabul police.

“It was a car bomb near the German embassy, but there are several other important compounds and offices near there too. It is hard to say what the exact target is,” Mujahid said.

The bomb exploded during the morning peak hour, meaning many people were outside or in the cars at the time.

Early reports indicate up to 50 people have been killed or injured.

Australian diplomats in Kabul are in lockdown after a car bomb explosion near the German embassy.

The Indian embassy has also reported damage to its buildings.

Other embassies within a few blocks include Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Canada and France.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast. A spokesman for Taliban insurgents said he was gathering information.
